The first day of Royal Ascot was very enjoyable despite the lack of crowds. Frankly Darling and Battaash were perhaps the standout efforts. It was great to see the smaller yard of William Muir land the King Edward with Pyledriver.

Frankly Darling must have a very good chance in the Oaks if connections go that way. She showed good speed and stamina. The way she finished off her race after pulling in the early stages was impressive.

Battaash blitzed his rivals and didn’t come out of 3rd gear. How he returned 5-6 I’m not sure. Battaash should have been a 4-6 shot. He was 15lb better than anything in the field and nothing came close to the RPR’s he runs too in each race.

Day 2 doesn’t get any easier, hopefully we can find a few more winners.

1:50 – First Receiver

2:25 - Convict EW

3:00 – Japan

4:10 – Tactical EW

We also have a runner later today at Chelmsford. Sampers Seven takes her chance in the 4:45. Sampers was second on her debut for us. We all have Lezardrieux to beat.
