We have two runners today, Aldrin runs at Huntingdon in the 3:45, we then head to Kempton with Mountain Rescue who lines up in the 8:15. It will be nice to have runners under both codes on the same day.
Aldrin bids to follow up his win at Southwell last time out, the handicapper raised Buzz 6lb for his efforts. Aldrin came out of the race in good form and we hope he can put two good efforts in back to back. Buzz will have to improve on his Southwell win, he’s still a young horse though and lightly raced.
The ground is a concern for Aldrin even though it’s given as good. It was good to soft yesterday and a further 9.6mm of rain came down overnight. Somehow, it’s dried up! We’ll see what the jockeys say after the first race. Aldrin needs quick ground.
Mountain Rescue is the outsider of the field in a very competitive race at Kempton. The Cambridgeshire 4th placed horse Sabador lines up as does the likes of Blue Mist and Ledham that have been running and winning good races of late. This race will take a lot of winning whilst Mountain Rescue has the worst draw possible once again.
In recent races, Mountain Rescue has been drawn 19 of 19, 8 of 8 and now 10 of 10. The draw is supposed to be random, but it’s getting rather annoying.
Mountain Rescue ran much better than his finishing position suggests in the Silver Cambridgeshire, he likes Kempton, but this will be a big a massive ask from stall 10. A top five or six finish will be a sound effort.
