The wet weather has certainly changed thought process going into future Champions Day & QIPCO Champions Day that take place at Newmarket & Ascot from tomorrow. Although the rain is welcome for the jump boys it couldn’t have come at a worse time for one of the feature flat meetings of the year at Ascot.

Rather than the best horse winning it’s likely what handles conditions best will be the winners, the form book can be thrown out of the window whilst horses that have won on heavy in the past will be the ones to concentrate on.

I’ve not had any bets so far this week due to the testing conditions however I was hoping Battle Born who runs in the 2:30 at Uttoxter was going to be a selection. The Charlie Longsdon horse is well thought of at home and one to keep on the right side of this season.

Unfortunately odds of 4-5 and shorter is no use to us and one for the big hitters only, watching brief only for me.
