Day 1 of Royal Ascot will be very strange with no crowds, the Queen not coming down the racecourse and the fashion not on show. There’s still very good racing on offer though.

I’ve had a few quid on the following horses.

2:25 – Frankly Darling

4:10 – Jubilso

4:40 –Blue Laureate EW 6 places

In other races, Battaash really should win the King’s Stand stakes at 3:35. Ascot will never be his favourite racecourse but on figures he’s 15lb better than anything in this race. A 90% effort from Battash should see him gain his first win at the racecourse.

I don’t bet odds on but 10-11 is tempting.
