Ebony Express made it two wins from two starts at Carlisle yesterday, what we learnt I’m not sure but Ebony did it very well and won hard held just as he did first time out.

Although the race was ran on bottomless ground EE showed a good turn of foot and put the race to bed very quickly whilst it was nice to jump the full 8 hurdles unlike on his debut when half was lost due to low sun. Jockey Will Kennedy was again very complementary about the horse as were the Racing UK pundits.

We don’t have any further running plans at this stage but Ebony won’t be seen carrying a double winners penalty so it’s time to step up in class and take on the big boys. The long journey was again well worth it and his owners have a lot to look forward to next year.

The win made it 6 visits to the winner’s enclosure from just 12 starts for the Value Racing Club National Hunt horses.

Were operating at a 50% strike rate, that’s a tremendous achievement and it goes to show you don’t have to spend huge amounts of money providing homework is done and horses are placed with the right trainers.
