Mountain Rescue ran flat at Leicester on Tuesday, William Buick said he was never going. The ground turned quite soft this wouldn’t of helped but MR was beaten too early for that to come into consideration. It’s getting towards that time of the season where horses need their holidays. Most of our summer jump horses have now finished, Mountain Rescue won’t be far behind them.
I hope you kept with Royal Marine after I mentioned him on his debut at Newmarket three weeks ago. Royal Marine was green as grass at HQ but was sent off the warm 9-4 favourite. I said stick with the horse win or lose as he’s held in very high regard. Royal Marine made his second start yesterday at Doncaster and bolted up at odds of 11-2. The winning time was quicker than the Listed race beforehand. He’s very good and is one to keep on side.
Loads of racing today but all on the level. The jumps racing takes a few days break and does so again after Monday for whatever reason. The St Leger is the big race of the day. Lah Ti Dar is the warm favourite. She looked high class when winning at York. Lah Ti Dar must prove she stays the extra two furlongs but wasn’t stopping over 1m4.
Dee Ex Bee might out run his odds of 16-1 EW. He’s ran a little below par since his excellent Derby 2nd but has looked every inch a stayer in the making. The slower ground will play to his strengths. If able to keep in contention, Dee Ex Bee should be doing his best work in the final furlong.
At shorter odds, Dubawi Prince in the 5:55 should go well. Connections think he's still well handicapped off 91. Dubawi Prince was odds on but has drifted to 5-4, not sure if that's good or bad?
