I thought we were rather unlucky not to land a decent priced winner yesterday with Gale Force, the horse finished 3rd after being well supported from 11-2 “when posted on here” into 3-1. No harm was done as we got the EW money back but it could have been a very different result if jockey Frederik Tylicki got the horse out of the pocket he was caught in a few seconds earlier.

Once in the clear Gale Force was running down the leaders and was in front just after the winning line, that arrived a couple of strides too early for us.

Plenty of decent flat racing this afternoon but the going is riding soft at the majority of meetings and I don’t like backing on the level with give underfoot.

I’ve had a go over the jumps though and placed a good sized bet on Manhattan Swing in the 7:15 at Market Rasen. I’ve managed to get 15-8 on Betfair.

Trained by Brian Ellison Manhattan Swing was 3rd in the Summer Hurdle behind our horse Gran Maestro who won the feature summer jumps race. Manhattan Swing was given a hold up ride that day and got a bit far behind but he finished with a right old rattle and was possibly a bit unlucky on the day.

Raised a 1lb for that effort, whilst and I know connections wanted to run at Galway but the horse was balloted out.

This evenings race is nothing like the standard of the Summer Hurdle and with Richard Johnson coming in for the ride Manhattan Swing should take an awful lot of beating if he runs to form. Regulation is the danger with Lizzie Kelly taking 7lb off, a small saver on that one at 5-1 could be the way play the race.
