Stormy Antarctic trained by Ed Walker was a very impressive of the Craven Stakes. Held up by George Baker from the outset, the horse was always catching the eye with the way he travelled. When asked for his effort Stormy Antarctic canted to the front and beat the highly regarded Foundation hard on the bridle.

The soft ground could have been key as Stormy Antarctic handles it well and maybe better than others, however his trainer didn’t think quicker ground would be a worry. It’s great for Ed Walker to have a serious classic contender as he’s a great guy and doing very well for himself. It also makes a change a potential top class horse it isn't owned or trained by one of the so called bigger names in Newmarket.

Stormy Antarctic will head to the 2000gns in 15 days time and I wouldn’t put anybody off taking the 14-1 available. I snapped up some of the 20-1 straight after the race but still feel the price is fair. If the going remains on the soft side he’ll be single figure odds on the day.

Whatever the ground come 2000gns day, based on yesterday’s efforts Ed Walker has a very nice horse on his hands and i'm sure he'll campaign him successfully.

No blog update on Saturday as we’re at the yard of David Dennis watching our mare Included work.
