Jumps racing starts back today after a break, we have two runners. Newton Abbot & Worcester hold fixtures. The going is likely to be soft at both meetings and not quite what’s expected in the middle of August.

Competition is our first runner in the 4:10 at Newton Abbot. Competition was pulled up last time out, losing his place quickly when seemingly going nicely. Nothing has come to light whatsoever and Competition has worked fine since. We don’t really know what to expect today, it’s a watch and see type of outing.

Conditions went against Black Anthem when second at Cartmel, annoyingly the same can be said for this afternoon on a return to chasing. Black Anthem handles a bit of cut but would prefer a quicker surface. Skinflint will stay every yard of this trip and further. Auld Sod is well handicapped and came back to form last time out. Would have won if not unseating. This is a tidy little race that will take some winning.
