I didn’t get to Taunton yesterday nor did 5 other members due to the M5 closure, Rhythm Star looked certain to be involved in the finish three out but blew up and was allowed to come home in her own time.

It’s the first day of the Paddy Power meeting and we have some great racing on offer. The first race on the card “1:05” is interesting. Apart from Sew On Target I can’t see many other horses that like to front run.

Sew On Target didn’t run great on seasonal debut but never wins first time up and does have a decent record at Cheltenham. If allowed to dictate he might get away from a few of these and go well at 10-1 EW. Note the going could be a bit quick for him.

The 2:15 looks a cracker, all four runners look smart types. Watching brief for me on this one.

I have to back Any Currency in the Cross Country at 2:50, trained by Martin Keighely this horse has won me a fair few bob in these races and I don’t see any reason why he won’t run well again. The quick ground might be a worry if Any Currency can’t jump out, lead and hold his position, but 10-1 EW seems fair.

No horse in the race will travel better than Kingsmere who gives this a go for the first time, I don’t think he’ll see out the trip but I’m hopeful his in running odds will be shorter than the current 50-1 on Betfair. I’ve put a back to lay bet in at 50-1 & 14-1.

In the 3:25 a big word is going around for A Hare Breath, the horse has been seen working very well on the Lambourn gallops despite a long absence. The 25-1 is long gone and it will be intresting to see how he gets on.
