A quite week so far the racing has been mediocre with little to get excited about.

We didn’t have any joy on Saturday with the two picks, Hillstar finished 2nd was the one that definitely got away.

The horse was dropping down in trip by two furlongs but was given a hold up ride which was very surprising, Hillstar made good headway and stayed on strongly close home but couldn’t quite reel in Amralah who never saw another horse and made all.

If the race could be run again I’m sure connections would have had Hillstar positioned handy, if those tactics were deployed at the weekend certain the result would have been different.

The other selection Lilly Junior was 3rd  backed as defeat was out of the question. 6-4 at time of the post going live she was sent off the even money favourite but pulled hard during the race and soon faded out of things. The only danger that was highlighted won.

Interestingly Lilly Junior was claimed by Brian Ellison, it would be no surprise to see her go over hurdles at some point.

The 3:55 at Salisbury this afternoon is a cracking Listed fillies race with good prize money on offer. The James Fanshawe trained Ribbons looks to hold an obvious chance whilst the unbeaten My Spirit could be anything.

Godolphin also holds a strong hand with the first and second favourites, If Albasharah retains all of her ability and has learned to go in the stalls she should take some beating but hasn’t been seen since July 2013 for different reasons. The boys in blue other runner Tearless is two form two plus holds Group 1 entries.

It’s a really good race that will take some winning, worth watching for future reference.
