We saw a very good horse win at Newmarket on Saturday, Calyx looks a possible future Group winner.

I loved the way he quickened and put the race to bed in a matter of strides. Calyx hit the line hard and won’t have any problem getting further. He could be a 2000 guineas contender next year for his trainer John Gosden. Hopefully you took the hint on here and had a few quid on. Muthmir also won and kept the great form going. This column is now over 100pts up for the year.

We have a runner at Yarmouth today in the 3:30. Competition is having an outing on the level. Competition made his debut for us at Huntingdon a few weeks ago but it all went pear shaped. The race was a mess from the word go and it blew Competition’s head.

We run on the flat in a bid to get some confidence back into the horse.
