We had a great stable morning at Alastair Ralph’s on Saturday. Alastair and his wife Kate, we’re great hosts serving a cooked breakfast on the lawn for owners. We then enjoyed watching Included & Newt work whilst caught up with our new Winter horse Stung For Cash who is on his holidays. Sam Twiston Davies & Charlie Hammond kindly both came to the yard and worked our horses.

We came very close to landing a 103-1 treble on Friday but failed by a nose in a very close photo finish. Magic Circle won the Chester cup with any amount in hand at 8-1. Dreamfield hacked up at Ascot and looks a Group horse in the making. Braemar then just lost out in the photo with the two horses pulling well clear.

We have a runner today at Ludlow in the 4:10 where Leoncavallo makes his debut for us. We purchased the horse back in January at the Doncaster sales. Leoncavallo was very smart a few years ago winning his first five races over hurdles then finishing 5^th in the Triumph Hurdle before losing he was a little.

We’ve gone back to basics with the horse, gave Leon plenty of fuss, back over two miles and hopefully back on the going he requires. Apart from that and giving Leoncavallo a nice break, there wasn’t anything else that needed doing. We’ll learn a lot today about Leoncavallo, i.e. if he still has the pace for two miles or needs a bit further nowadays. Either way, we’ll be going over a fence sooner rather than later.
