It was frustrating to see English King declared for the St Leger but taken out yesterday in preference for the Group 1 Juddmonte that takes place at Longchamp on Sunday.

I hope English King runs well in France but can’t help thinking he’s tailor made for the St Leger and step up in trip. English King hasn’t looked quick enough for 1m4f at the top level in his past two starts. I hope connections don’t regret their decision.

No time to go through the racing today as we’re off to Fontwell with Artistic Language and Yes No Maybe So.

Artistic Language makes his seasonal debut and debut for Harry Whittington at the same time.

Banksy as we call him, seems in good order at home but is up against plenty of race fit horses that are in good form. The run will blow the cobwebs away, but he should show up well for the majority. Fitness will likely play it’s part at the business end.

Yes No Maybe So has won three out of three since purchasing him. He’s gone up the best part of 20lb for those wins. Life is going to be much harder now, but the trip will suit Yes No Maybe So. Carrying 11-12 won’t be easy, in previous races had a stone less in the saddle.

If the handicapper hasn’t got him, hopefully Yes No Maybe So can run another big race before earning a well-deserved break.
