The Aintree Grand National meeting finished with Tiger Roll winning the race for the second successive year. It was a brilliant performance, Tiger Roll was always going well and won with plenty in hand. Connections say Tiger Roll will unlikely run in the race next year as he’ll carry 12 stone.
The Grand National selections posted on here, finished 3rd 4th & 5th. This topped off a good meeting from a punting point of view.
We claimed a horse this week for £6000 called Black Anthem who finished 3rd at Exeter on Tuesday. Black Anthem is very well bred and comes from a family of smart horses. He’s only rated 86 but peaked at 114. We think this horse could have a lot more to give and was pleased to get him. We were even more pleased when Black Anthem turned up the next day, he’s a lovely looking horse and very correct. We'll give Black Anthem a mini break and come back in the warmer months.
We are off to Ayr today with the owners of Leoncavallo who runs in the Scottish Champion Hurdle at 2:25.
Things didn’t go to plan at Cheltenham for Leon, the ground turned soft whilst our horse was too fresh and pulled his chances away. Hopefully that’s out of his system now and he settles for Sam Twiston Davies. It's great to be involved in another big Saturday race.
Vintage Clouds was fancied by many to run a big race in the Grand National but took a tumble at the first. He was third in the Scottish version last year and must have a solid chance today if none the worse for his fall. Odds of 9-1 with six places on offer look quite fair.
