We completed our recent shopping spree for new horses this week at the Doncaster sales, Henry Smith was secured for £22,000. Henry Smith is a smart flat horse, but will go jumping next year. Our new recruit handles all ground and travels through his races very strongly. He looks one to go to war with in the Spring of 2018. Shares will be available.

95% of the time when on the lookout for new horses we're planning 4 months in advance. The purchase of Henry Smith completes our team for the Spring & Summer of next year. We won’t be shopping again until May 2018 “unless something exceptional comes along” and that will be for the Winter season.

Four shares are left in Broughtons Admiral, he’ll be up and running in approx 4 or 5 weeks and go down the juvenile hurdle route. There are some videos of him learning to jump on our twitted feed, he’s taken to it like a duck to water.

Wincanton & Aintree have two good cards of racing today, The Elite Hurdle & Badger Ales Trophy are the highlights at Wincanton. In the Badger Ales Trophy at 3:35, I thought Vic De Touzaine looked a fair EW bet at 10-1. The form of his seasonal debut win has worked out nicely whilst conditions look spot on. It’s a highly competitive race that will take some winning, but 10-1 EW looks fair.

The 2:50 at Aintree looks a matchup between Unowhatimeanharry & Top Notch. Trained by Harry Fry, Unowhatimeanharry is a 10lb better horse on ratings and will likely take the beating. However, he might find the trip of 2m4f on the sharp side. I thought Top Notch was worth risking at odds of 6-5, he's a quicker horse but wouldn't want this turning into a stamina test.
