Poet’s Vanity the horse given a positive mention on Friday won nicely at the odds of 13-2. Trained by Andrew Balding this smart filly will now likely go straight to the 1000gns. My contact at the yard was very sweet on her chances and connections think she’s the best filly thieve had for quite some time. Poet’s Vanity is 25-1 for the Guineas, that price looks rather tempting if you like antepost betting.
We had a great morning at Dr Newlands on Saturday with the owners of Greyed A and West Of The Edge. It was good to meet all the new owners I’ve just got to remember their names now!
Both Greyed A & West Of The Edge worked nicely and are not far off making debuts for us, we need some rain though as each require soft ground. The mild dry weather is holding the National Hunt season up a little now, the first Cheltenham meeting isn’t far away but no rain is on the long range forecast. The wet stuff will come though it always does, hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
Some exciting news!!!
Dan Skelton one of the country’s leading trainers and likely future champion trainer is joining the Value Racing Club trainers list. I’ve been speaking with Dan for the past couple of weeks and I’m really pleased he’s agreed to train a horse for us.
I’ll be working closely with Dan at the upcoming Newmarket Sales that starts on the 24th of this month.
This 4 day horses in training sale is the biggest in the world with over 1500 horses going under the hammer. I’ve been working on the sale for the past 3 weeks and plenty more midnight oil needs to be burnt before we have our final shortlist of targets.
We’ll be looking to buy a highly rated ex flat horse to go jumping through the spring and summer months next year. Hopefully the new recruit will develop into a Saturday horse in time. If you are interested in getting involved with Value Racing Club and Dan Skelton do get in touch.
Places are now being reserved on a first come first served basis. Please follow the below link for more info on Dan and the training facilities at Lodge Hill:
