It’s been a quite week on the runners’ front with no National Hunt racing. The jumps don’t start again until middle of next week.

We were busy on Wednesday though and purchased a new horse at the Doncaster sales, Pyromaniac. He’s a proven classy horse and holds a rating of 132. Pyro needs sweetening up as did Leoncavallo & Audacious Plan who have done so well for us. Pyromaniac has some very strong form whilst has placed in Graded races. He’s won just under £100,000 of prize money.

He’ll be a Saturday horse through the winter / spring months and run in all the big valuable handicaps like the Betfair Hurdle & Imperial Cup. We also have the chasing option. Pyromaniac is exciting and should take us to many big race meetings.

We do have a runner today at HQ, Mountain Rescue takes his chance in the 4:20. Mountain Rescue enjoys running at his home track. He arguably ran a career best last time out when 8th in the valuable Bunbury Cup. If drawn better Mountain Rescue would have placed.

This is another smart race that will take some winning, the ground has turned soft and this isn't ideal. Hopefully, Mountain Rescue will run his normal game race. If we can pick up some prize money, that would have resulted in a smart effort.

Shergar Cup day at Ascot. It’s something different I suppose but I’m not keen. With the going changes up and down the country, it’s tough finding winners. I can’t see anything worth a few quid.
