The York Dante Festival starts today and we have some really good racing on offer over the three days. This meeting really kicks off the flat season.
The highlight of day 1 is the Duke Of York Clipper stakes “Group 2” ran over 6 furlongs. I’m hoping this year is the breakthrough for Danzeno who like his trainer "Michael Appleby" I think is a Group 1 horse in the making. Danzeno has already proved himself as a quality sprinter but hasn’t always had the best of luck in running, and still looked a bit green last year.
I’m hopeful Danzeno will bag a big race in the coming months, if he’s fit and ready today he could well go close. The likes of Magical Memory & Mattmu will hold a fitness advantage but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Danzeno run a solid race at the odds of 15-2. Whatever the result, i’ll be following him off a cliff this season.
At Lingfield this evening unless the newcomer Cold Snap is decent or Muatadel bounces back, Colonel Bossington has a great chance of breaking his maiden tag. Adam Kirby looks to have been booked to get the job done and stall one is the perfect draw as Colonel Bossington can go forward. The drop back to six furlongs is ideal and he should go close, priced at 6-4.
