Australia the hyped Aiden O’Brien trained colt lived up to his billing with a superb performance when taking the 2014 Epsom Derby in fine style. Australia could be seen moving menacingly throughout the race, it was only a matter of time until the horse was asked the question to go and win.

I’m not sure where Australia will go next but connections won’t be short of targets, Australia shouldn’t have any problem with a drop in trip if required.

The 2nd placed Kingston Hill did everything right he was just unlucky on the day running into somthing special, it shouldn't be long until he bags a big prize too.

Racing this week is the calm before the storm as Royal Ascot starts in a week’s time. The meeting is always a good spectacle but perhaps not one for the real racing enthusiasts to visit, saying that there’s always some sights to be seen!

On another note it’s concerning the Channel 4 viewing figures for the Epsom Derby were at a record low for the race, although the chief executive proudly suggested the coverage had more viewers than the Formula 1 practice session, you couldn’t make it up.

Channel 4 needs to change things quickly and admit thieve got it totally wrong before sponsors start pulling out, if this happens racing on terrestrial TV could end very quickly and that would be a disaster for the sport.

The show is boring with no fun and presenters that are far too similar, i.e. Graham Cunningham & Jim McGrath. Claire Balding hosting as and when she feels like it just doesn’t work, she seems to be rolled in for the big meetings only and isn't building a relationship with the program or viewers whilst gives zero opinion.

The program needs a big shake up, It needs a Derek Thompson for entertainment whilst bring back John Francome, Alastair Down & Nick Luck as the main host.

If it’s not broken why fix it springs to mind.
