The weight and the very sticky going did for Ebony Express at Catterick, it was impossible to make ground up on the day from behind, all winners throughout the card raced handy or made all. With nearly 2 stone of lead in the saddle the conditions made the task pretty much impossible but it got the 3rd run out of the way and we can now plan a route.
Conditions will be testing today too, the racing is ok but not standout this afternoon it’s more of a run of the mill Saturday.
At Kempton some good prize money is on offer in the Listed Chase at 2:10, just three runners line up and they all look to have a chance.
Hunt Ball looks to be coming back to form slowly and ran well at Cheltenham last time out with a solid second place. The horse seemed to enjoy being out in front and with Barry Geraghty taking over in the saddle he might just be a bit of value against the odds on Balder Success.
The worry is this race coming to soon for Hunt Ball but the Alan King trained horse also runs again fairly quickly whilst has to give 5lb to the selection and that could be tough on soft ground. At 15-8 in a 3 runner race I’ll risk just a few quid on Hunt Ball to make all.
The Lanzarote Hurdle is wide open, it looks a race where you could back 3 horses and still not come close, elsewhere nothing stands out, like last week i'm struggling for a half decent selection.
