I didn’t do a blog on Saturday as we had a stable morning at Dr Newland’s with the owners of Leoncavallo & Henry Smith. Dr Newland is always good fun on these mornings and tells a few stories.

We watched Leoncavallo & Henry Smith work on the gallops whilst our new purchase that I bought on Friday, Adams Park arrived at the yard.

Adams Park was secured at the Newmarket sales for 16,000gns. He’s a 3yo out of Mastercraftsman and holds a flat rating of 77. His pedigree is all stamina, related to St leger & Racing Post winner Kingston Hill. We're confident this horse wants a trip, his profile suggests juvenile hurdles through the Summer months will be right up his street.

Adams Park has already started learning to jump and will run next month. Shares are available, please get in touch for further information.

The Chester May Festival starts today, if you’ve never been to Chester I can highly recommend it, it’s a great day out and a lovely city to have a few drinks in afterwards.

In the 3:35, The Chester Vase is a decent Derby trial.

I’m hearing Ispolini is the main Charlie Appleby trained Derby horse whist Young Rascal has improved plenty from him win last time out. Both horses are expected to run well, priced at 9-2 & 5-1. Aidan O’Brien likes having runners at this meeting and no doubt will come away with a few winners. He runs Hunting Horn in the same race. It will have to be a watching brief perhaps.
