Aidan O’Brien completed the 1000 & 2000gns double with Churchill & Winter both winning in decent style. Coolmore again proved they are miles ahead of anybody on the flat.

Winter beat her more fancied stablemate Rhododendron who finished 2nd in the 1000 Guineas. Rhododendron is the horse I would take out of the race though as she lost momentum at a vital stage and looked to have more stamina than speed in the final furlong. Rhododendron is priced at 5-2 for the Oaks and I think she’ll take some beating.

A great morning was had at Dr Newland’s on Saturday, the owners of Kerrymerry, Ebony Express & Milrow had their stable morning.

We’re off to Southwell today with Bishop Of Bling who runs 3:10.

We started Bishop Of Bling over hurdles after buying him from Ireland. BOB showed promise but didn’t handle the heavy Winter ground and wasn’t physically ready for National Hunt racing. For that reason, we’ve decided to give him a season on the level with our flat trainer Chris Wall.

Bishop Of Bling is still green and hasn’t quite worked out what’s required of him yet.

It will take an act of God for the John Gosden trained Pealer not to win by a distance. We’re just hoping for a fair effort. If Bishop Of Bling can finish a respectable  2nd or 3rd and learn a bit, that will be ideal.
