We were hoping for a decent run from Duke Of Destiny at Lingfield on Thursday but the race didn’t quite work out as hoped. The blinkers went on for the first time but unfortunately they had the opposite effect and put Duke to sleep rather than help produce the form he shows on the gallops.

Horse and jockey failed to get the prominent position we hoped for so it was race over before it really started, we’ll take the blinkers off next time and build again. On the betting front how Duke Of Destiny went off at odds of 2-1 based on his form I will never know, that was a crazy price in a open trappy race.

Rain was seen at Epsom this morning, 6mil has fallen. The huge thunder storms predicted haven't hit although is still obviously time, going at the moment is good, good to soft in places.

I’ve backed True Story at 16-1 antepost as highlighted before plus a saver on Kingston Hill. I’m still keen on the Saeed Bin Suroor runner but stall 1 certainly makes life a much harder. If the rain does arrive his chance will go out of the window so its fingers crossed the weather holds and Kieren Fallon can ride one of the races of his life from the worst draw possible.

I’ve not got involved in anything else this afternoon due to the wet weather that is falling elsewhere, with going changes likely it’s a watching brief for me today apart from the Derby.
