We have our first runners of the New Year today, Wincanton & Newcastle, they couldn't be much further apart!

Rock On Harry is first up at Wincanton, Harry didn't get the trip on his hurdles debut after winning his bumper. The drop-down to two miles will suit but the form of his bumper hasn't worked out. The race looks wide open with plenty of promising types running.

Up at Newcastle, Had To Be Hugo makes his hurdle debut for his owners after running nicely in a bumper thirty days ago.
It seems everything is running for second place with the smart, Henry's Friend likely to take an awful lot of beating. He's got v good form in graded races already.

If Hugo could finish in the three, that will have been a very good effort.
