I’ve not had chance to go through today’s racing in detail but after a quick glance I thought Rayvin Black in the 1:15 at Sandown could be worth a small bet. He’s very much up against it on paper and the likelihood is Pearce And Co will win but anybody who smashes into him at a short price after his debut effort this season is very brave. Peace And Co pulled far too hard at Cheltenham and refused to settle, no doubt trainer Nicky Henderson will have worked his magic at home but odds of 4-7 isn’t for me.

Rayvin Black loves Sandown and ran a cracker behind The New One last time out, he’ll jump out in front and won’t stop galloping. Priced at 7-2 he’s worth a throw away tenner.

After a 6 month search I’m pleased to say we secured a smart flat horse at the Tattersalls sales on Thursday evening. We purchased MOUNTAIN RESCUE for 26,000gns. The horse goes into training with Newmarket trainer Chris Wall.

Mountain Rescue is a 4yo son of High Chaparral and holds a rating of 78. High Chaparral was top class and a dual Derby winner trained by Aidan O’Brien. He’s produced such horses as So You Think, Wigmore Hall, Tornado and Redwood plus many more Group horses. High Chaparral passed away in 2014.

The Dam is Amber Queen, she was an 81 rated twice winner by the outstanding Cadeaux Genereux and out of the family of Our Queen Of Queens. Amazingly she’s a half’s sister to another horse we owned called Changing The Guard who won us just shy of £50,000 over hurdles and a fence when trained by Dr Newland.

The horse came recommended by Roger Charlton "his old trainer" who thinks there’s more to come as he was given plenty of time as a youngster due to his size. Mountain Rescue is only just starting to fill his big frame and stands at 16.1 hands. He’s a real handsome chap and very well put together. Mountain Rescue was at the sales as his old owner breeds then sells.

We like him a lot and he’s ready to crack with, Mountain Rescue will be making his debut for us in the next month and will be a lot of fun. The horse stays one mile four strongly so at some point will make the transition to National Hunt racing giving his owners two bites of the cherry.
