We had the fantastic day at Sedgefield on Thursday, Audacious Plan won the prestigious £30,000 Durham National. It was fantastic to win another big race. Brian Hughes gave AP a brilliant ride, they looked in complete control from the word go.

Days like these live long in the memory. We’ll keep trying to take on the big owners and hopefully beat them. Audacious Plan cost just £8500, he’s now won around £25,000 of prize money of his owners. This was our 10th win of the year and a great way to get into double figures.

West Of The Edge also ran really well to finish 3rd over hurdles. The going was too quick for him and he could have done with another lap. It was a sound seasonal effort. We’ll wait for the bad ground now with WOTE and see where we end up.

The work doesn’t stop just because we had a big winner, it was back down to the Newmarket sales early Friday morning to bid on just one horse we identified. Pleasingly the hammer fell our way and we secured Broughtons Admiral for 18,000gns. He’ll be a lovely dual-purpose horse and will be trained by Alistair Ralph. Full details coming soon.

A super racing today, the Charlie Hall chase at Wetherby and a great card at Ascot. It’s also the Breeders Cup meeting taking place at Del Mar.

I was impressed with Desiremoi D’Authie debut effort for Alan King even though he finished 2nd. The horse pulled like a train and did very well to finish so close to Canyon City who looks a nice type. With that run under his belt and no doubt connections teaching the horse to settle, Desiremoi D’Authie could go one place better today. Priced at 13-8.

It would be great to see Gold Cup winner Coneygree run well in the Charlie Hall Chase. Cue Card will no doubt play his part whilst Bristol De Mai will make them both work. This looks a good renewal of the race.
