Super racing this afternoon, quality action up and down the country.
Aintree always makes great viewing, the Beacher Chase over the Grand National fences is the feature on the card.
Alvarado trained by Fergal O’Brien will jump round for fun but this trip on the fairly quick ground might just be a bit sharp for him. You can guarantee Alvarado will be given the kitchen sink as he needs to go up in the weights to get in next year’s National. I’ll risk a few pounds EW at 11-1 and hope he can keep in contention in the early parts of the race.
The Grand Sefton Chase at 3:15 is interesting, I tried to buy the horse Valadom last year and thought he could be ideal for such a race. His front running style and sound jumping can see him run well at a double figure price. I also hope Seafood runs a huge race for obvious reasons, forecast?
Earlier on the card in the fillies’ juvenile at 12:00, Evening Hush was very impressive on her debut at Exeter and I know she's held in high regard. This race looks warm and will take some winning but I’ll go with Evening Hush at the price of 7-2.
In the last at Wetherby, Passing Call “13-8” must have a good chance of turning the form around with Shearling, 7lb pull for a 2 length beating.
