A nice comeback ride for William Buick yesterday on Lazuli who won with any amount in hand. I heard this was the horse William didn’t want to miss and planned on riding. Lazuli looks smart whilst it's great to see William back in the saddle, hopefully he can kick on now.

I’ve stayed clear of Goodwood all week, it’s been a bogey meeting for me over the years.

For what it’s worth, Flavius Titus should give you a run for your money in the Stewards Cup at 3:40. Trained by Roger Varian, Flavius Titus doesn’t win by far, so the handicapper hasn’t been able to do much. He’s a very consistent horse in big field sprints and should run well. Priced at 10-1, plenty of bookies are paying 6 places so shop around.

A mark of 90 could underestimate Gifts Of Gold who runs in a handicap for the first time in the 5:25. Odds of 11-4 in such a race are skinny but Gifts Of Gold has a good draw and top young jockey riding. The horse is well thought of at home.

The 1:40 at Chelmsford is worth watching. Keep an eye out for Jovial if you can see her! You might mistake her as a racing pony. She’s only 13.1 and probably the smallest horse in training. However, I hear she’s got a big old engine, it will be fascinating to see how she runs.
