Run of the mill stuff so far this week but as normal things warm up towards the weekend.

Sandown host a good card of racing today, a few of the favourites look hard to beat but their priced up correctly and of no value.

The main news of the week came as a huge shock, the sad death of Kauto Star. It seems reports about his accident are changing daily and the injury was sustained over a week before he was put down.

Kauto Star was and will go down as one of the all time great Chasers, 2 Cheltenham Gold Cups and the winner of 16 Grade 1 races in total is a phenomenal achievement. After everything he achieved maybe the horse should have been left with his trainer Paul Nicholls and allowed to enjoy a lovely retirement at Ditcheat.

Despite how things turned out and the fact Mr Nicholls wasn’t informed of his death until minutes before it was made public, Kauto Star should be remembered for his thrilling days that brought so much enjoyment to every National Hunt racing fan.
