Fort Bastion was really unlucky again yesterday at Goodwood, beaten under two lengths into sixth position, a clear path couldn’t be sought just like his previous run. Once finding racing room Fort Bastion motored home but couldn’t quite get to the leaders. I really hope Ruth Carr runs Fort Bastion at York during the Ebor meeting, a big wide track with few hard luck stories, he would go very close at a nice price. Keep with him.

We had better luck with Bonne Fee who won as she liked and deservedly broke her jumps maiden tag.

Keep a close eye on the weather today, heavy rain and storms are forecast later in the afternoon the going could change at many of the meetings. The weather at Glorious Goodwood currently is light drizzle.

Daylight looked in need of the extra furlong after running at Goodwood on Tuesday over 5 furlongs, the horse lines up again in the 32 Red Consolation race 2:05. The Andrew Balding runner was outpaced in the early part of the race on but really came home well passing many a horse to finish 5th beaten 3 lengths. If those efforts haven't taken their toll today’s extra furlong should see him go well at a big price. The 14-1 EW looks worth a little bet.

Kings Fete who runs in the 2:40 at Goodwood only won by half a length last time out but jockey James Doyle took forever to pull him up, looked to be loads left in the tank. I’m hopeful Kings Fete is a horse going places, he’s clearly well thought holds a St Leger entry but does need to settle better.

Providing James Doyle can get him to switch off and not waste vital energy “where’s a hood today” I would expect a big effort from the Sir Michael Stoute horse, do note Kings Fete wouldn’t want the going to ease.

Muthmir looks like a Group horse running in a handicap, 3:50 Goodwood. Trained by William Haggas Muthmir bolted up at York last weekend winning with an amount in hand. This is a quick reappearance but he’s 2lb well in under a penalty and the race doesn’t look any harder on paper.

A repeat effort of last week’s win should see Muthmir very hard to beat, the 5-1 EW looks fine with 5 places on offer, my only concerns would be the race coming a bit quick, lack of pace around him and if the going changes as he must have it firm.

Alben Star looks the danger and is worth a saver at 11-1.
