The two horses highlighted on Saturday both rewarded support, Danzeno 5-2 & Noble Silk EW at 16-1.

Danzeno proved his previous effort was all wrong, the Mick Appleby trained runner made no mistake and won this Group 3 race in good style, his trainer suggests Danzeno will be even better as a 4yo.

Noble Silk had zero luck in running in the Northumberland Plate, he was short of room from the word go and behind a wall of horses when the leaders kicked on. Once a gap did appear Noble Silk flew home making up a huge amount of ground but was stopped again in the final 200 yards when closing down the leaders. He grabbed 4th on the line but with a clear path would have gone very close indeed.

The World Cup has been excellent viewing in recent days, late goals, penalty shoot outs and bite marks!

From what I’ve seen so far there doesn’t seem to be a standout side, majority of the 2nd round games needed extra time whilst Chile losing on penalties was very frustrating plus Benzema should be clear and gone in top goal scorer market.

Although my outright bet on Argentina is still going they looked out on their feet against Switzerland who pushed them all the way, the only side who’ve got the job done in normal time in the knockout stages are Colombia.

They play Brazil on Friday in the quarter finals, priced 7-2 to win, those odds can only get shorter and look overpriced.

Come matchday Colombia will have had an extra days rest, Brazil needed extra time and penalties plus they played a day later. I’m far from convinced Brazil are world beaters and hope Colombia with the excellent Rodriguez can spoil the party.

I’ve also had a saver on Colombia to win the World Cup at 14-1, odds will more than half if they win on Friday providing a nice trade position, a few quid on the Rodriguez top scorer / Colombia winners market at 33-1 could be a bit of fun too.
