The Aidan O’Brien trained, Forever Together won the Epsom Oaks yesterday. The race didn’t look a great renewal and the result perhaps confirmed this. Forever Together was a maiden going into the race, I’m not sure if a horse that’s never won a race, then wins the Oaks, has happened before? It can’t be great form.

My fancy Wild Illusion was second, the winner was just a stronger stayer on the day.

There must be a very good chance Aidan O’Brien will complete the double today and win the Derby with Saxon Warrior.

Saxon Warrior won the 2000gns and is 4 from 4 coming into this. Stall 1 isn’t a great draw but I’m sure Ryan Moore will know what’s happening with the other four O’Brien runners. They will have a tactical plan to ensure the race is ran to suit Saxon Warrior.

Saxon Warrior has seen significant money this morning, he’s now an odds on shot with most firms.

Young Rascal is my EW selection, put up at 16-1 after winning the Chester Vase. Young Rascal is now a 10-1 shot and looks to have a good EW chance. He’ll stay every yard of the trip and the cut in the ground won’t be a problem. Just a question if he’s good enough.

I’m going with another William Haggas horse today too, Beshaayir in the 3:25 at Musselburgh. Priced at 7-4.

This is a step up in class for Beshaayir, however she’s held in nice regard and holds Royal Ascot entries. The stable doesn’t send runners all the way to Musselburgh for the fun of it. I’m told connections think she’s a fair bit better than a 89 rated filly. Hopefully she’ll go well.
