We were pleased with Rhythm Star’s hurdle debut yesterday, Star finished 7th but only beaten seven lengths. RS was nearly brought down at the first flight by another horse and lost a good six lengths, this put us further back than planned.
Her jumping was sound but she found the pace of the race too quick and was always in top gear for the duration, Rhythm Star will be a middle distance stayer as we thought and needed the run yesterday. We’ll look to go again in approx three weeks time and step up in trip.
The feature jumps race this afternoon is the Charlie Hall Chase, 3:15 Wetherby.
I’ve looked through the race and tried to find some value but more I look at it more I think Silviniaco Conti is a good thing. The 11-10 favourite will have far too much speed for the rest of the runners and should win this if the horse is fully fit, that would be my only concern.
Over at Ascot I’ve heard Chapel Hall is a smart horse and a big run is expected by the Nicky Henderson team in the bumper at 4:05. I don’t bet in bumpers but this is a nice horse apparently.
Over at Santa Anita this evening I’m hoping Dank trained by Sir Michael Stoute can win the Filly & Mate Turf Grade 1. Dank has been trained with this race in mind for a long time whilst is un-beaten when running on Lasix in the US.
She’s reportedly been doing some very good work on the track in the past few weeks whilst I’m sure Ryan Moore won’t let her down.
A few shorter prices than normal but for me the day is all about Silviniaco Conti. With a clear round he should take some beating, I just hope Mr Nicholls has him fit.
