Withhold was a very easy winner of the Northumberland plate for trainer Roger Charlton and owner Tony Bloom. There was never a moments worry. Sent to the front from the word go, Withhold had an easy time of things in the lead and powered away for a superb win.

As mentioned on the blog yesterday, I thought Withhold was a Group horse and he clearly is. The win was a huge gamble landed, it was great to be part of it.

We have a runner this afternoon at Uttoxeter in the 4:55, Cotton Club has his second start over hurdles. Sam Twiston Davies rides.

The race looks wide open, Royal Ruby, Black Prince & Swashbuckle all hold solid form. It will take a bit of winning. Cotton Club will be trying his very best, so we’ll see how we go.
