We were really pleased with Broughtons Admiral 4th place at Cheltenham on Saturday.

It was super day out for his owners who welcomed Broughtons Admiral back into the winner’s enclosure. Watching our horse gallop alongside Apple’s Shakira for the first circuit was great fun. Coming around the home turn Broughtons Admiral was holding his own and not done with, he made an error at the tricky 2nd last though that stopped him in his tracks. BA battled back into 4th place and picked up £1700 for his efforts. Without the error I think we would have been 3rd.

Trigger Nichol also finished 4th at Uttoxeter, the run was as expected. Three miles and a fence will see him go three places better next season.

Not a huge amount to report on so far, this week. The Grand National weights came out yesterday, 105 entries for the Aintree feature.

This time last year I was backing One For Arthur who duly won. Nothing at a price has caught my eye for the 2018 renewal but Blaklion must have a major chance. Far from an original selection, it’s hard to see him out of the first four with a clear round.

Most of our Spring / Summer horses come in from the field this weekend after a three month break. A few are already in pre-training, the rest will be starting prep on Monday.
