Happy New Year to one and all. If you went out last night, I hope the head isn’t sore this morning. Racing from Cheltenham will hopefully clear the mind where a fantastic 30,000 crowd is expected. It’s incredible Scotland and Wales are hiding under the bed covers and waiting for life to pass them by.

I’ve had a couple of bets at Cheltenham where conditions will be hard work.

First up is Galahad Quest in the 2:00. He was a good 5th in the Paddy Power but was perhaps given a bit much to do, held up off the pace in a race where it paid to be handy. Galahad Quest flew home doing all his best work at the finish.

A faller at Doncaster last time out when going well results in running off the same rating. With the low weight carried of 10-5 and priced at 10-1 "some bookies paying 6 places and most 5", Galahad Quest looks to have a nice EW chance at good odds.

The other horse I’ve had a few pounds on EW is Pileon in the 2:35 priced at 11-2.

Pileon ran poor last season but is back to form now, he won well last time out but is still well in based on his past efforts. Second in the Martin Pipe at festival off 138. If he runs as he did at Sandown when winning by 5 lengths, he’ll should go well again.
