Black Anthem won again for us and his owners at Newton Abbot on Thursday. It was a routine win, Black Anthem never came off the bridle and scored easily under Charlie Hammond.

This win, was his third form just four starts since we claimed the horse for £6000. We thought there could be more to come from Black Anthem and he could be a big improver. He’s proven to be a great piece of business.

Plenty of good racing today, too much really with Goodwood, Newmarket plus the York Ebor meeting and more going on.

I’ve placed a few bets this afternoon, first up is Zaaki in the 1:50 at York.

I backed Zaaki at 5-1 but he’s now priced around 11-4. His last time out effort can be ignored as Zaaki didn’t appreciate the drop-in trip, finished strongly, but the seven furlongs was on the sharp side. Over 1m1f today, this is ideal. I just hope there's a bit of pace in the race as Zaaki needs a strong gallop.

The Ebor is the big race of the day at York. Far from an original selections, I think Raheen House EW has a great chance "6-1" or good as you can hope for in such a race. He’s been trained with this race in mind for some time and ticks a lot of boxes. Ben Vrackie also looks to hold solid EW claims.

Staying at York in the Sky Bet Handicap at 4:45. Johnny Drama was an eyecatcher last time out at Goodwood. I didn’t think he was given a hard time on debut for for this yard. It was still a good effort to finish 6th, maybe it was a learn a bit about him outing in prep for today? 8-1 EW.
