Super news that Cheltenham goes ahead today, there looked to be little chance earlier in the week after the biblical amount of rain we had. The ground staff have done a great job getting the meeting on plus saving two of the races that should have been ran yesterday.

Eight races to lose money on, well hopefully not, but if your punting good luck. Horses that stay further than the distance their running over could be beneficial. The going will be bottomless and take an awful amount of getting. Heavy ground form is a must.

The 1:50 is a Grade 3 Chase over 3m3f.

Ramses De Teillee is the class horse in the race, he’s 153 rated with next best 142. Ramses De Teillee stays all day and goes on bad ground. Giving weight away won’t be easy in such conditions, however the David Pipe runner ticks all the boxes and should run well.

The big race at Cheltenham is the Betvictor Gold Cup at 2:25. I’ve had a few quid EW on Count Meribel at 8-1 and Springtown Lake 12-1.

Count Meribel ran very well behind Lostintranslation the other week, “he’ll win the King George and Gold Cup by the way”. Count Meribel wasn’t given a hard time and I dare say the run was a prep for this. Count Meribel has the form to go well.

Springtown Lake is not as easy to work out. The horse lost his way last season but is well handicapped and I noticed him making strong headway at the 2m4f marker on his first start of the season at Ascot two weeks ago. The three-mile trip would have stretched him that day, but he caught the eye. He’s another one that was perhaps having a prep for this race.
